Karl holds a Master’s Degree of Oriental Medicine, as well as Bachelor’s in Psychology and East Asian Studies. Karl completed his Oriental Medical studies at the New England School of Acupuncture in Boston where he also worked in a variety of clinical settings: Boston Medical Center, Dimock Community Health Center, and Pathways to Wellness. Karl is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine to practice acupuncture and is nationally board certified in acupuncture by the NCCAOM. He practices Japanese and Chinese acupuncture, including non-insertive needling style (touch needling) and Asian bodywork.

Karl feels very strongly about empowering patients to learn about themselves and their health. He is continually impressed and humbled by people’s ability to heal and grow. To him, health is a moment by moment choice.

Karl treated patients at Stepping Stone for 8 years before transitioning out of the office in 2021. He now provides support to our clinical and administrative teams, as well as providing business development and making sure everything is functioning smoothly behind the scenes.

Karl has spent time living in Japan and Ireland, and lengthy parts of his life in Provence, France. In addition to being an acupuncturist, Karl is an ordained Buddhist priest, having practiced and trained for almost 20 years, and spent over two years as the temple assistant at the Tendai Buddhist Institute in Canaan, NY.
